The Reflection of Choice

Arun moved into his late grandmother’s house on the outskirts of the town. It was old, creaky, and smelled of mothballs and memories. While cleaning the attic, he stumbled upon a tall, intricate mirror covered in a dusty white sheet.
He wiped it clean, expecting his own reflection, but what he saw was not himself.
The person in the mirror looked like him, but older, colder, and sharper. The reflection grinned as Arun stared in disbelief.
The next day, he noticed small changes.
He snapped at a delivery boy for being late – something he’d never do. He ignored his neighbor’s call for help with groceries. At night, the mirror version of him grew bolder, smirking and mouthing words Arun couldn’t hear.
Each day, Arun grew more impatient, cynical, and bitter. His true reflection began to pale, and the one in the mirror remained firm and more real.
On the seventh day, the reflection finally spoke…
“I’m you!!! – if you keep choosing convenience over kindness, pride over people, ego over empathy!”
Arun took a step back.
He realized he had let the stress of adulting harden him. The world didn’t change him – he had changed himself, one choice at a time.
He took a deep breath, covered the mirror again, and walked downstairs. That evening, he helped his neighbor, called an old friend, and donated his grandmother’s clothes to a shelter.
The following morning, the mirror showed him again – weary, but authentic.
Moral of the Story
You don’t become someone overnight! It happens gradually and quietly, through the small choices you make every day!
